EXCELLENTVerified Best wedding we could have ever imagined! We had our dream wedding come true on Saturday 14th June all thanks to Tony, Melania and the team at Don Pedro Wedding Planning. We live in Australia and have family in Aus, the UK and Greece so planning a wedding in Italy from thousands of miles away wasn’t exactly a stress free thought. Having never been to the Amalfi coast before, we were really going in blind with the choices we were making so we tried to do as much research as possible… and then we found Tony and Melania. I had seen their names come up a few times on facebook pages and what drew me to Don Pedro was the family feel that they had and seeing the videos of them on their Instagram, it felt like we knew them straight away. With the time difference between us in Australia and them in Italy was not a problem in the slightest. I chose to communicate via email the whole time with Tony and he was incredible with communication, very upfront and honest about costs, how achievable everything was and I honestly thought it was too good to be true. When we met Tony and Melania for the first time (3 days before our wedding!!!!) I knew that it wasn’t too good to be true and they were exactly how I’d imagined them to be. They were so professional, warm, reliable. Nothing was too much of a problem for them, they literally did everything in their power to make us feel welcome, relaxed and 100% looked after. They showed us around Sorrento town, took us to meet the florist, showed us our welcome dinner choice, they were just amazing. We cannot recommend them enough. They also arranged a boat day for us and our guests on the Monday after the wedding. We had a private boat chartered for the whole day, stopping off for swimming and snorkelling, the blue grotto if we wanted to see that, and stopping in Capri for a look around and they booked us a table for lunch there too! Everyone who was there at our wedding keep saying how amazing they were as well. They really made an impression on everyone who was a guest at our wedding weekend celebrations and we couldn’t have wished for a better planner to help organise our dream day. Don Pedro took care of our food on the wedding night. We basically designed our own menu with them and wanted it to be a family share style dining. We had a whole variety for our appetiser; Caprese salad, carpaccio, Octopus salad, bruschetta and an antipasto selection featuring local regional delicacies, there was honestly soooo much food, we couldn’t believe the spread it was sooo good!!! Pasta course, our guests chose between a Sorrento style tomato gnocchi and a prawn scialatiella pasta (which was husband still says was the best pasta dish we had the whole time we were in Italy) and then for our main course we had the choice of a meat grill or a fish grill with sides of potatos and salads and it was so delicious! And then for dessert we had Tiramisu and limoncello shots. There was soooo much food it was incredible!!! We had live music for our cocktail hour, a mandolin and guitar player and it was the best decision ever!!!! They were so authentic and played classic Italian songs and also ones like take me home country road, everyone had an amazing time. Overall it was literally the most perfect wedding for us. We don’t really like to be the centre of attention but we felt so special, without being stressed at all. Best day ever! We were staying in Marina Piccola at the water's edge in Sorrento. Our first night, we experienced one of those downpours that are typical along the Bay of Naples, and we didn't feel like making the trek up the bluff to downtown. Don Pedro's was literally a few steps from our door, so we decided to try it out. We were not disappointed! The food was absolutely the best we ate in Sorrento. You need to be aware that many restaurants there are "food factories" which serve mediocre food at inflated prices to the legions of tourists who don't know any better. Don Pedro's was an exception. My favorite meal there was grilled calamari and prawns on the first night. The second night my wife and I both had the lobster, which was priced very reasonably. I also enjoyed their fish "pie" (shellfish wrapped in a fillet). My wife had the best steak she had ever eaten and on another occasion a crab dinner. All were fresh, delicious, well prepared, and nicely presented. Prices were reasonable, given that it's Sorrento. Service was very attentive, polite, and extremely personal. This is outstanding for restaurants in the Amalfi region, where service tends to be surly, impersonal, and often openly rude. We were "teamed" by two young men and a young woman. Rafaele and Teresa in particular provided service which was attentive without hovering and did it with a smile. On our last night, friends of ours showed up in the middle of our meal, and the wait staff cheerfully added two more place settings at our table. Teresa was married during our stay, and she gave my wife a favor from her reception. It doesn't get any more personal than that! The dining room is a temporary building a few steps from the water's edge. Don Pedro's takes its ambience from its spectacular views of the harbor at Marina Piccola and from Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples. In bad weather, they have plexiglas curtains and space heaters for your comfort. I am confident that you will have a wonderful dining experience at Don Pedro's. Don't be put off by the few customers in the dining room if you visit. The only negative thing I have to say about this restaurant is its location. It's a bit out of the way. Sorrento sits on a bluff high above Marina Piccola, and there is limited access to the beach area. Don Pedro's is the very last restaurant at the end of the marina around a blind corner before you come to the public boat docks. With a few nice bonus touches along the way, like picking us up from the hotel to show us the venues, being with us every minute of the wedding itself, and of course listening to Tony’s jokes 😂 and Melania’s infectious laugh 😀 all done to the agreed budget with no nasty surprises and to a very very high standard. When Tony learned that we would be in the area of Sorrento for vacation, he was extremely kind and offered us a tour of three of the locations that Don Pedro proposes to prospective wedding couples.
