Wedding Ceremony

Types of Weddings and Enchanting Locations

An essential decision in the ceremony planning process is selecting the ideal wedding type, such as Civil, Religious, Symbolic, Hindu, Persian, Same-Sex, Vow Renewal, etc. Choose the one that suits you best!

Civil Wedding Ceremony

The most sought-after ceremony in Italy is the civil ceremony. While it typically occurs in a Town Hall, it can take place in stunning locations like medieval cloisters in Sorrento, an outdoor terrace in Positano, or the breathtaking 12th-century palazzo and gardens in Ravello. To ensure legal recognition, the couple must complete specific paperwork based on their nationality and Italian authorities’ requirements. Don Pedro staff will assist in the process, guiding you through each step. Civil ceremonies, officiated by an Italian authority, last approximately 15 to 20 minutes and are legally recognized in your home country. The ceremony is conducted in Italian and translated into English by interpreters.

Catholic Wedding Ceremony

Catholic wedding ceremonies are legally recognized in Italy but are confined to churches. Italy boasts beautiful and ancient churches, providing a sacred setting for your ceremony. Necessary paperwork for a religious wedding must be initiated at least 6-8 months before the wedding. Non-resident Catholic ceremonies are not allowed in Sorrento but are possible on the Amalfi Coast.

Symbolic Wedding Ceremony

Ideal for those who prefer avoiding the paperwork associated with civil or religious ceremonies, the symbolic wedding ceremony is not legally binding. Couples have the freedom to personalize the ceremony based on their values and beliefs. The ceremony’s content varies, allowing for traditional or relaxed and unstructured settings, performed by a pastor, Italian officer, or a family member. Symbolic ceremonies can be conducted in spectacular venues like medieval courtyards, vineyards, or romantic Italian gardens.
